A PROACTIVE FRANCHISE MODEL TO SAFE-GUARD MEDICAL TEAM SAFETY
Within a matter of weeks of a fast-developing situation, AFC launched a contactless diagnostic system, called the AFC/Telecare portal, that allowed patients to meet virtually with healthcare providers within our network, and receive assessment/screening of COVID-19 symptoms, or those of other health issues, all from the safety of home.
This telemedicine option not only allowed patients to feel better about their situation but provided an important opportunity for AFC franchisees to continue serving their communities, meeting the needs of established patients, as well as those of new ones.
“AFC pivoted quickly with targeted innovation that benefited both patients and franchisees,” explained Sean Hart, Vice President of Sales and Development at AFC.
As prepared as we were to take on the challenges of the pandemic quickly and effectively, we also knew our success would depend on important relationships. Our corporate team moved quickly to negotiate a deal with, and secure the services of, a robust telemedicine vendor capable of handling our entire contactless system, allowing our franchisees immediate access to it.
We also partnered with healthcare stalwart, Abbott Laboratories, to become the first healthcare provider in the country to provide the fastest-available molecular point-of-care test for the detection of the virus, making our covid-19 clinics some of the most visited in the country.
“By leveraging purchasing power and key relationships, we were able to make things like the COVID-19 testing opportunity happen,” added Hart. “Innovation is at the core of American Family Care.”
